Mike Manefield is a microbiologist, entrepreneur and science communicator who brings the invisible world of microbes to life through children’s books.
An acclaimed Professor at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, his research explores how microorganisms can solve big environmental problems—from treating wastewater from our homes to cleaning up pollution in the environment.
With a passion for education and storytelling, Professor Mike started creating stories about bacteria to entertain his kids and inspire the next generation of curious minds.
When he’s not in the lab or writing, you might find him camping with his kids, lecturing university students, or dreaming up new microbe characters for his next book. He believes that science belongs to everyone—especially children.
